Off to Disney

After being sick for almost two weeks, my cold turned into a sinus infection and then a full blown ear infection, I am almost healed. I was too stubborn to start an antibiotic until 3 days ago so it just kept getting worse. I also tried to keep training through it all and it wasn't until I kept crashing my bike due to a lack of balance from the ear infection, that i finally gave in and took the danged ole pills.

After I venture outside today for my first outside ride in 4 days, we are packing up the car and headed south to Disney World. Alex cant wait, its all she has been talking about for weeks. It will be nice for us to have a change of pace as well.

After nearly 3 weeks of semi-off/off from training, I should be well rested and looking to make up for lost time when we return on the 4th. Its a good thing because February is packed. I have MOB Team training camp the 16th-18th and then the PCC training camp the 19th-24th, ending with 2 days of racing. It will be the highest training load of the year for me, cant wait!

So, the moral of the story is I should have practiced what I preach, as far as taking it easy when sick, and healing before making a return to full blown training. I also learned that an ear infection sucks to say the least.

Have a good week, I will be thinking about you all, especially all of you in the -30 degree NE!

Great Article

Here is a great article in a local news paper by Chris Hrenko, a member of the Kenda Raleigh team. It is about his testing experience with PCC affiliate, Joey Adams-Intelligent Fitness. He seems to be one of the few that really understands the science behind training. Nice job Chris.

Drug Use

My friend Joey Adams just sent me this, and well, I think its hilarious to say the least. Its ashamed that the sport has turned into this, although I believe its all professional sport, cycling is just the one cracking down on it.

New Year, New Teams

Tonya and I are both very excited about our new race teams. Tonya will be racing for the super strong BMW-Bianchi Elite Womens team. They are a very strong group of gals and they get to drive around in SWEET rides. I know she will do well with this strong group around her and hopefully get some wins this year.

I will be riding for the Mock Orange Bikes/Foothills Brewery Team. This team is in its first year, but the group and sponsors are both great people. I have a sweet new Orbea on the way and a very supportive group of guys to race with this year. Hopefully, all of the training will pay off this year for me as well.

Charles McCarthy is a member of the new and exciting Legal Sea Foods team. This is the same team he was on last year with a new Sponsor and a beefed up roster. They are very organized and professional and i am willing to bet they will be one of the top elite teams in the NE this year. I am confident that Charles will have a killer year as well this year.

Racing starts in 4 short weeks with the Greenville Training Series, a classic early spring 4 week series that draws a ton of people and ends up being very competitive. There is almost always a few guys that show up in peak form, and kill everyone. Not to worry though, they are the same guys who will be off the back come August.

Stay Healthy!

Alex isnt a baby any more...

My little baby is now a little girl! I can believe how fast she is growing.
Here are some current pictures.

I am officially a nerd...

Welcom to the PCC blog. I have been down with a bad cold for the last few weeks and a bit bored, so i felt the urge to goof off. Plus i think we (PCC athletes and friends) need a place to rant. For the most part i will try to be civil and decent, but please, take everything i say in stride. Its hard to be serrious all of the time.

I wanted to create a place where everyone could share thier thoughts on whatever, but specifically cycling, racing and training. So feel free to comment away. Use this as an opportunity to get together for rides or beers and get to know your fellow PCC'ers better.

I know all of you in the NE are freezing right now, I feel for you. Here in NC its gotten down into the 30's finally and after 3 months of 50's to 70's it feels really cold, although its not that bad.
